Named after the goddess Maa Mangala, the plantation combines Mr. Swain’s love for nature with his reverence for the divine. The plantation is located on the foothills of the Deomali (the highest peak on the Eastern Ghats in Odisha) adjoining protected forest areas where a variety of indigenous flora and fauna live and thrive.

A relatively higher elevation and focus on semi-organic practices, with predominant use of farm-produced compost and locally-sourced cow-dung and neem cakes, has helped the farm produce award-winning coffees at the 2004 and 2008 editions of the ‘Flavours of India – The Fine Cup Award’. After a brief period of abandonment due to violence from left-wing extremists, the plantation has been on a path of revival since mid 2010s. Last year, the coffee from this plantation was among a select few that featured on the Debut Series of Blue Tokai Coffee Roasters. With infrastructure upgrade and farm expansion underway, the plantation looks forward to producing some of the best coffees that the region has to offer!

Cupping Notes: The washed coffees provide a kaleidoscope of flavours of orange and lemon, mandarin, green apple, with traces of sweet lime and a hint of caramel
